Not Queens New York. Rather queens at Colonial Beach, VA. M&D took me to Colonial Beach on the Potomac this weekend. Their friends Scott and Alan have a place there right on the river with beautiful views. We drove down with Larry and joined them there on Saturday. This was a new experience for me, as most things are for a 6 month old, but all the boys except Daddy talked about each other as "she" and called each other Mary. Interesting. We had a great time, lots of cocktails and met a lot of their friends who live or regularly visit CB. Pictured here are me with Larry, and me with Scott. Somehow we didn't end up with a picture of me with Alan even though he held me the most. Anyway, we had a great time and I have officially decided that I am the reigning queen of all these queens!

My First Meal
Well, as I occasionally am, I'm being a bit disingenuous with my title. Of course I've had lots of meals since I was hatched, but they've all had one thing in common; boobies. Now don't get me wrong, I love mommy's boobies, but I just got my first real meal. Now I can't say that rice cereal gelatinously mixed with breast milk is my absolute favorite, but then I have nothing else to compare it to. I'm learning how to eat and end up wearing more than swallowing, but I am trying. Dr. Kancitis said to try one new thing a week, I've also had pureed carrots. I like their color. More on this as I learn to eat more things.

My 6 Month Check Up
I had my 6 month check up. It was not with the normal Dr. McKenna who's on vacation, but rather Dr. Kancitis who looks after my cousins Emily and Charlotte. Mommy was a little disappointed it wasn't my cute boy doctor, but I noticed that Daddy stammered around her a bit. Why must both my parents have crushes on my pediatricians? Well, the update is that I am officially growing like a weed. My head size is still 25%tile, still surprising based on Daddy's ginormous noggin. I weighed in at an even 16 lbs, still 60th percentile, and most amazing of all, I measured 26 1/4 inches long, 80th percentile. Mommy asked if that had any bearing on my potential height, and Dr. K says that it could very well portend decent height for me based on the fact that I've been consistently in the same bracket. If I could talk, I'd promise my Daddy to always be there to reach things on the top shelf for him, poor short Daddy. So everything is normal for me it seems. Lots to do in the upcoming 3 months per Dr. K though.
The second picture does not date from today, but I thought it was a great picture of me with my dashing cousins, Turner and James.

My Shirtless Beach Daddy
I mentioned in my first beach revisit that there was one ovearching theme. If you haven't guessed it yet, it's that my Daddy went to the beach for an entire week and I don't think he ever put a shirt on. You've already seen some of the earlier pictures, but here's Daddy holding me up on the beach, shirtless. And here's Daddy playing Wii that Uncle David brought, shirtless. I guess he took Kitty Hawk Kites slogan seriously, "No shirt, no shoes, no problem."

My Beach Recap Part Deux
Here is the step by step pictures of me trying out the ocean for the first time. As you may be able to tell, I was not in love immediately, or at all. M&D waited until Wednesday to try me in the water, and by then, some weird gulf stream fluctuation had come in and made the water colder. No one warned me about how cold water is not really fun to get in. I think I made them fairly aware of how I felt from my facial expresssions.
My Beach Recap
I've been back from the beach for a week now, but much like the Terminator, I have to return to the past. Mommy just put all the pictures on the computer for me to look through, and you, my loyal readers, are going to have to suffer through some beach recap that I was remiss in omitting at the time of occurrence. I guess I was having too much fun at the time. Here are some pictures of the middle of the week. You can see my cousin Charlotte loves me. There's another over-arching theme throughout, let's see if you can guess.

My Beach Day
M&D took me out on the beach today. Daddy set up the umbrella, and Mommy laid me out a towel underneath it. I love the beach. I cooed away until I got tired enough to fall asleep.
They let me sleep there a while and transported me to my crib. I was still wearing my sun hat when I woke so Daddy snapped a picture of me in it. The other is a picture of Daddy and me from earlier, a little hard to see from the sunshine coming in. There was a better one, but Daddy didn't have his eyes opened in that one.
